Claudia's Corner of the Country

My blog's focus started out as an exercise to help me learn to live with the deep grief I was experiencing after my daughter's unexpected death. Looking back on the blog I truly hope some of the posts have touched other people's hearts who are living with the heartbreak of losing someone they love. Many years later the focus shifted to include things that I find interesting or compelled to share but I have never lost the main focus of the blog--GRIEF. (updated Jan 2025)

Pumpkins carved by D

Mighty canines

Poor Jack! He doesn't look thrilled to be Batman!

Yet, he enjoyed his wage--yummy steak.

Louie is so sweet he will endure anything his mother makes him do or makes him wear. Although he didn't like the Zorro costume; he preferred Batman like his brother. I hope Louie got some steak too.

I love you guys!

ALBINO PEACOCK

THE DAY GOD RAN SHORT
ON PAINT

What absolute beauty

only God could create!

Thanks BD for sending me this.

Mother

You are my mother
You are my friend
I turn to you
When I feel like life's

coming to an end
I hope you will stand

by my side
When I win
Or when I lose
to tell me there's

a next time
And there's always room

to improve
I hold you dear to my heart
And love you in a way

that's hard for me to show
So when I yell at you
And tell you to leave

me alone
I don't really mean it
I just get so angry
And take it all out

on you
If I were ever to

loose you
I wouldn't know what

to do with my life
I would lose more

then just a mother
I would lose my

best friend too
And forever there

would be a place
in my heart
that nobody else

could fulfill

Laura

Think of Laura by Christopher Cross

Hey Laura, Hey Laura

Every once in a while

I'd see her smile

And she'd turn my day around

A girl with those eyes

could stare through the lies

And see what your heart was saying

Think of Laura

but laugh, don't cry

I know she'd want it that way

A friend of a friend, a friend to the end

That's the kind of girl she was

Taken away so young

Taken away without a warning

Think of Laura

but laugh, don't cry

I know she'd want it that way

When you think of Laura,

laugh don't cry I know she'd want it that way

I know you and you're here

In every day we live

I know her and she's here

I could feel her when I sing

Hey Laura, where are you now?

Are you far away from here?

I don't think so, I think you're here

Taking our tears away

Think of Laura but laugh, don't cry

I know she'd want it that way

When you think of Laura,

laugh don't cry I know she'd want it that way

Hey Laura, hey Laura

I know, she wants it that way

Hey Laura, hey Laura

I know you want it that way

Hey Laura
