Summer in October

What a spectacular day at the beach! 

You would never know it is October 9. 

The water was fabulous at 67 degrees. 

Lot's of people and dogs in the water.

  I couldn't resist catching waves

so fully clothed I made the plunge.

  I wish I had my boogie board.  

The waves were superb.   

There was a natural wading pool for the kids

and then a wide sand bar

before the wave area.

It was a perfect day.

What a crazy day! It felt like we were in a twilight zone movie. The car alarm went off twice while I was trying to get the beach stuff out of the car trunk (I couldn't understand why). People were running out of their rented houses frightened because the houses were shaking. People were running off the beach scared. Two young teens were so upset I don't think they will ever go back to the beach.

One young woman said she was sleeping on the sand and it sounded like a train passing under her.  She couldn't get off the beach fast enough.

And here I am standing in the mist of this with my two girlfriends and we are just chatting and laughing and oblivious to the tremor.

Finally we had the chance to celebrate

Paula's birthday. 

We are only a few months late!

but she enjoyed and finished

her lobster dinner! 

Today, Tuesday, July 5, I experienced a “first” at the beach.  I have been swimming in the Atlantic Ocean since I was eleven.  I have been tossed around by the strongest of large waves; lost a bathing suit top when I was fourteen; cut my foot on shells numerous times; and got stung by a Portuguese Man O War (you never forget the pain from that creature!)..I can now add to the list my latest experience getting tossed and tangled.  I truly thought I was going to drown!  I couldn’t release myself and get to the surface.  It felt like I was struggling to free myself for a long time but I know it wasn’t as long as it felt.  I kept telling myself not to panic and at the same time fighting to get my head above water. I couldn’t imagine what was holding me down. Finally, I was freed and I popped my head up immediately only to find that I was intertwined with another human!
