Earthquake at the beach

Tuesday, August 23, 2011

What a crazy day! It felt like we were in a twilight zone movie. The car alarm went off twice while I was trying to get the beach stuff out of the car trunk (I couldn't understand why). People were running out of their rented houses frightened because the houses were shaking. People were running off the beach scared. Two young teens were so upset I don't think they will ever go back to the beach.

One young woman said she was sleeping on the sand and it sounded like a train passing under her.  She couldn't get off the beach fast enough.

And here I am standing in the mist of this with my two girlfriends and we are just chatting and laughing and oblivious to the tremor.

Finally we had the chance to celebrate
Paula's birthday.
We are only a few months late!
Her pina colda at the Captains Inn
was large enough to serve as the meal,
but she enjoyed and finished
her lobster dinner!

Support Verizon's Workers

I support the 45,000 Verizon workers who are now on strike to stop the attack on the middle class.

Despite record profits, Verizon is refusing to bargain and is demanding that its workers add to those profits from their own pockets.

In the last four years alone, Verizon made more than $19 billion in profits and compensated their top five executives more than a quarter of a billion dollars. But apparently that̢۪s not enough.

Now they want to outsource more jobs, including sending jobs overseas, slash sick days, eliminate benefits for workers who get hurt on the job and cut the healthcare benefits they promised retirees. And they have not budged.

Click on the link below to send a letter now to tell Verizon CEO Lowell McAdam to stop Verizon's attack on the middle class and share his company's success with those who made it possible.
